V.....(??)

V…..[ver]
Map maker:
Map Type: Clear the dungeon
Number of Players: 5
Replayability:  yes

Every once in a while you find a map, that has no description on what it is about nor its creator, no goal set out for you to accomplish, not even a single skill description. People on this circumstance just try and play the game choosing a hero by randomly guessing what its role just by looking at it, you may get lucky and get a well rounded hero or you may get screwed over and get a hero that cannot do anything on the  battlefield.  It’s a very fun game albeit I cannot understand what is going on and there doesn’t seem to be any story.

I mean this map can  be a wonderful thing in itself, but I cant go willy nilly and rely on lady luck to save me every time we encounter mobs, especially boss mobs. But I digress this is a fun map to play just you and maybe a couple of your friends dungeon crawling, fighting monsters of every kind from scaly fishmen to the wretched undead. You will be overwhelmed at first thankfully your skills make your adventure easier every inch of the way. Venturing into the unknown armed with just your instincts and thirst for anything fun can go a long way in this map.

Deadly Hate

Deadly Hate [ver]
Map maker: DarkFang
Map Type: Skirmish
Number of Players: 2v2 4v4 5v5 (AI)
Replayability: yes

A breath of fresh air from the usual warcraft skirmish map since this map adds new races and generally modded several aspects of the game(food count, recipe system, etc.) along with tweaking the original races available.

Beautiful terrain laden with unusual mobs, a market place in the middle where you can buy oddities that will make your gaming experience much more pleasant(buildings, troops, fertilizer). Strength in numbers and micro management are needed to survive carefully choosing your squads so that they complement each other and maximize their capability might just make your base live long enough for you to achieve and unlock higher ranking units. A good tactic to use in the game later on is a “war of attrition” try to claim as many gold mines as you can since the food cap is increases as the game progresses and building a diversified army will not be a problem.  Build towers a whole lot of em, especially of your base is located near a gateway.

Learn to create units fast enough to scour the map and harass the enemy a bit to strain their progress. Mobs drop certain items that can be stacked up to give bonus stats or sell it for gold you could always use a few gold pieces here and there. Relics are items that allow hero characters to cast certain abilities and traits which is an amazing feat, the penalty however for using such grand items is that you are unbelievably slow

Anime Battle Characters

Anime Battle Characters [ver1.4.1]
Map maker: thomasinow & Deckai
Map Type: Multiple modes
Number of Players: 1v5, 5v5
Replayability: balls to the wall yes

A proudly made Indonesian map customized to achieve a state that allows players to be immersed in a game where different characters from different backgrounds (visual novels, anime) clash for glory.

A beautiful map with a very challenging AI system that corresponds to the tier of difficulty, insane will tend to make you mad. When playing the map for the first time you should read the description and effects properly since timing is somewhat everything in this game.  Let us look into the finer details of this map the strength, agility and intelligence system default in Warcraft have been replaced with endurance, swiftness and potency respectively. Don’t be fooled they still work in the same principles. Item building is important basic items give crappy stat bonuses to your character. The next tier of items is what you need to guarantee kills in this game. Aside from your usual skill combos and farming tactics scoring aces shouldn’t be a problem especially in duels.

Another thing about this map is that its heavily customized from models, shops, player auras, and the little miscellaneous things that make it so rich and vibrant heck they even tweak the sounds a bit. Rest assured that you will have enjoy playing this game with your friends or even just by yourself against hte defunct AI system.

Orc Gladiators

Orc Gladiators [v2.702d]
Map maker: OGem and Balduras
Map Type: Hero Arena, Coop
Number of Players: 1 - 10
Replayability: not so much, unless you can play with 10 people you game with.

Ever imagined that you were a gladiator in an arena full of blood thirsty creatures wanting to devour you and your comrades, did you imagine it in a warcraft setting? if you did it would involve a whole lot of running around and dealing cheap shots at the enemy. That is what Orc gladiators game play is for single player, if you like running around in circles for 30 seconds to save your hide while waiting for your spell to cool down you’re in luck because this is the map for you. However everything changes in multiplayer teamwork is essential to the players survival, a varied but dynamic and flexible roster is needed (tanks and nukers).

Making use of the environment plays a key role in surviving the onslaught of waves upon waves of enemies.  Using the tower for height advantage, exploding barrels to pack a punch for clustered enemies, use the rubble a maze to confuse the enemy ranks. Proper item builds helps too since the initial characters can withstand the damage and regenerate the chipped off health by running, this tactic won’t hold up in the later rounds. When the arena introduces range mobs you best have a plan prepared especially if the mob has a poison attribute.

These Orcs must not falter for in victory lies their freedom, while losing guarantees death,

Angel Arena Gamble to Death

Angel Arena Gamble to Death[]
Map maker: Dark Gambler
Map Type: Hero Arena
Number of Players:3v3 6v6
Replayability: not so much

Angel arena type of maps usually feature a myriad of characters from towering bone armor plated winged demons to village women and the occasional crazy raccoon. The purpose of the game is to garner the most kills usually the desired number is 250, but in this version you need 1000 kills to win the game. You’re either fighting for God or the Devil (note: The deity you fight under is subject to change God can be represented by an Ironman model while the devil is represented by Chuck Norris). Choosing heroes in the game doesn’t have much guarantee in ensuring victory since one can kill a cert1ain enemy mob, there are chances that mob will drop his/her essence. Once a player has obtained an essence he can become the hero which that essence represents by simply going to an altar. But you will revert to level one once you use an essence. Every once in a while the game is scripted to give you some gold to help the players, it also has a system designed to protect the newly spawned from being mercilessly killed by imbalanced characters, a punishment system if you will. The duel system in place pits two players from opposing fronts seeing who is stronger faster, more cunning enough to survive.

The key to winning in maps such as this, as well as any other map that offers this, is to buy stats. Yes continuously adding the primary stat of your character well beyond what seems normal is key to paving the way for victory.

To lighten up the atmosphere Angel Arena maps usually offer different gimmicks for players such as special events, anime themed characters, unique mobs etc..

Arena of Apokua

Arena of Apokua [v1.2]
Map maker: APproject
Map Type: Campaign
Number of Players: 1
Replayability: yes

Another type of map where you must survive each round thrown at you the difference being here is that this is a single player map no coop here folks just you and your strategy pitted against the game.

The premise of the story is that you a wizard (of either an adept at fire, frost, shadow spells) wake up in an arena and two melee axe wielding warriors attack you. After defeating your assailants you are now introduced to the owner of the arena Apokua. Apokua wants you to fight for your life in a series of rounds each one harder than the previous. There are 10 rounds in the game for you to take on starting from lowly human bandits to centaurs, ogres, orcs 2 sub bosses and finally Apokua’s right hand man. Since your character is a wizard all you have to do is run and gun, plus the three classes have a blink skill function getting to higher ground and avoiding enemies is not a problem. Garnering enough money you need to buy the equipment designed for your character since putting a fire staff for a frost wizard just seems silly (or is it…). Each character gets to at a later point in the game summon a creature that is native to their elemental mastery. From lava creatures, frost elementals, to winged fire demons.

The Fallen Paladin

The Fallen Paladin [v3.0]
Map maker: Artelium
Map Type: Campaign
Number of Players: 1
Replayability: yes

The map explores the events that transpired after Prince Arthas slays his father for the crown, of the destruction, the suffering that he inflicted upon Lordaeron and its inhabitants. The story is pretty linear but it is very fun at the same time without being dull and dragging.

The map begins with the player killing King Terenas, Arthas must escape lordaeron or face his demise in the hands of its people and the silverhand. Killing everyone that stands in his way, city guards women and children bear no difference. Arthas begins to lose any vestige of humanity he has little left. The maps just like a campaign cut scenes between the characters further deepening the story. The camera is lock onto Arthas preventing you from looking at anything else in the map and he walks the entire time like he was talking a stroll at the park. Coins are scattered around the map since killing enemies do not provide money for Arthas he must resort to finding these coins, there are also bits of cool information such as statues bearing Arthas name and how he will lead Lordaeron to is glory is quite contrary now.

Plus you gotta love the way Arthas walks nonchalantly, swinging the Frostmourne killing things like its just another day in Lordaeron.

Battle Stadium D.O.N

Battle Stadium D.O.N [ver1.8b] Map maker: Valkemiere Map Type: Multiple modes Number of Players:1-10(Multiplayer is crazy) Replayability: if you like mainstream anime

Warcraft 3 usually have stoic men or burly dwarves for characters, who would have thought that you could bring anime into the fray. Anime in all its crazy over the top antics of dazzling techniques and arts. Battle Stadium D.O.N is a game that was made for the gamecube and playstation 2 platform which hoists characters from popular franchises such as Naruto Dragon ball Z and One Piece. This game is pretty straightforward you just have to earn kills to win. You can play it by yourself against the AI system or have a friendly match with other people. It is a very pretty the models are very decent each one resembling the character accurately, creep mobs of respective camps are done nicely, a dragon ball system that rewards the player for gathering all the dragon balls , the ground looks very much like the earth from Dragon ball Z, infrastructures taken from Naruto and the in game items blend well with the atmosphere. Now the skill effects tend to get crazy at the later parts of the game you cannot see anything but explosion, and flashing lights from the characters bombarding the battlefield. One minute you’re rushing to the mid the next thing you know Black flames enveloped the field, waves of water from one side, everyone becomes slow suddenly a flash of pure energy is rushing for you and a meteor the size of your screen is coming down on everyone.

Impossible Siege

Impossible siege [ver0.60b]
Map maker: GodLike!
Map Type: Hero Defense
Number of Players:1-6()
Replayability: yes (characters are well done with respective models and skill effects)

Lets break things down how team work dictates the progression of players in maps like such a this. Tanks, Healers, Supporters, Nukers, Damage Dealers, Hybrids are the staple in a castle defense type each caste caters to a specific purpose. How you choose what type of character you are going to play usually depends on the number of players joining the game and your playing style want to take everyone on? Choose a Tank, like to keep everyone alive? A Supporter is your best pick Want something flashy? Get a Nuker. The game starts with wave 1 units that have normal HP and little to no armor with each wave that the group overcomes the creeps get tougher and stronger. Early on the Tanks, usually with the highest armor in the game and/or HP , plays the pivotal role of attracting/distracting the large number of mobs coming from every direction. When the Tank is at the core of it all with every enemy attacking the crap out of him consumables (Potions, Scrolls, Herbs ,etc.) come in handy. Cooldown time is very important in using items since a 15 second cooldown may cause the Tanks HP to dwindle in dangerous territory calling upon the Supporters role of healing, buffing him consistently tends to even things out.

Damage Dealers and Nukers are generally the same thing, their role is to thin out the numbers of the unrelenting horde. While Damage Dealers can occasionally shoulder a few hits here and there Nukers cannot they are soft, flimsy, their defenses are paper thin but their skills more than make up for it. Just keep your Nuker at a reasonable distance while he casts spells that make the sky rain balls of fire, bolts of lightning, spears of ice. You will keep the enemy at bay. The mobs that whose goal is to lay waste to your castle ranges from weak tier one zerg rushing creeps to bosses that tend to withstand the mightiest of blows.

Now with this map.

You get to set the difficulty and the game speed, do be careful when setting this things. Now choosing your hero is all up to you once you’ve got one time to buy some items. There are 3 tiers of item levels and a 4th if you can reach it. The game also gives you a courier in guise of a dragon which thank God is invulnerable to any attack. And the usual fair of purchasable stats, potions and what not. The special events will help add some money in the bank helping you to clear each wave that approaches up until you’re ready to fight Illidan and his minions.
